On July 19, the Xiangshan Tea Plantation in Dawangzhuang Town, Laicheng District, Jinan City, welcomed a group of "tea culture ambassadors" from afar—international friends from France and Iran. They immersed themselves in the lush tea fields, embarking on an immersive journey to explore Chinese tea culture. Amidst the fragrant aroma of tea, they experienced firsthand the unique charm of the Oriental leaf.

At the tea plantation, international guests first listened attentively as staff members offered detailed explanations, introducing them to the ecological secrets of tea cultivation, the characteristics of various tea varieties, and the rich, time-honored history of Chinese tea culture. Brimming with curiosity, the guests then slung traditional bamboo baskets over their shoulders and transformed into “tea pickers,” stepping into rows of lush green tea bushes. Guided hand-in-hand by experienced tea farmers, they learned to identify tender tea buds and carefully plucked the prized “one bud, one leaf.” With each delicate touch, they experienced both the labor and joy behind the harvest.

Leaving the fields, the group moved on to the tea processing area, where they were able to observe, up close, the mesmerizing transformation of fresh leaves into fragrant tea. From high-temperature pan-firing to lock in freshness, to rhythmic rolling for shape, to precise drying and intricate hand-roasting, each traditional step captivated the international students. They watched in awe, holding up their phones to capture each moment of wisdom and craftsmanship, and couldn’t help but express admiration for the refined artistry behind ancient tea-making techniques.

The highlight of the event was an elegant tea ceremony. The tea artist moved with poise and fluidity, every gesture filled with grace and serenity. As steam rose gently, the tea leaves unfurled like green clouds, dancing and drifting in the cup before settling into a crystal-clear infusion rich in aroma. This visual and olfactory feast immersed the guests in the tranquility and Zen-like beauty at the heart of Chinese tea culture.
